until dawn soulless? then you clearly didn't saw or know anything about it, if you were a horror movie fan you'll see how much love, effort, entusiasm and creativity was put behind creating the ultimate interactive horror movie game experience and they did it perfectly, they weren't trying to create a serious horror games but an homage/satire/parody of every horror movie, full of references to them, not to mention that the majority of popular youtubers that played it loved it and found it like something different in the gaming industry, it isn't soulless or cynical at all, and is actually considered the best "choice based/interactive drama" game as of now, because compared to the other ones like heavy rain, beyond two souls, life is strange, telltale's games, etc this offers much more interactivity and more meaningful choices (i'm not saying that every single choice matters and changes dramatically the story, but comparing to other games of its genre is much more well done on this aspect). |
I'd argue that making a game as an "interactive movie" damages its worth as a game, just as making a movie like a video game damages its value as a movie.
