Sure, Nintendo needs to change but that's something that they need to, and are, figuring out. I know we all want Nintendo to "grow up" but people who think like that are selfish and don't understand Nintendo. There are kids born every day and just like you they might get interested in games. Nintendo is most likely that introductory letter to videogames for most children. Unless you let your 5 year old kill people in CoD. Nintendo stands where they stand because you feel that you've grown too old to play with them. If so, that's your choice but they aren't going to chase you down just to gain your loyalty.

People who love Nintendo, never left them because they loved what their games stood for. If wholesome, family and fun isn't your cup of tea then yeah, Nintendo probably isnt for you. Nintendo was founded by family men. Men who put family before everything else. Hiroshi Yamauchi being the first president of that mantra, even going as far as dubbing their first game console, the Family Computer. That's what they stand for and I don't think they should let that go. And it's not like "Grown ups" don't have much to play on Nintendo. The Zelda games, Metroid games, Mario, well... most of their franchises are perfectly playable throughout the generations. It's just that we feel that Nintendo should "catch up" with us. I guess in terms of style and theme of today's games.

Thing is, they don't have to "catch up" at all. All they have to do is figure out a way to get the best AAA third party titles on their platform and the problem is solved for everyone. You'd have those classic Nintendo titles AND the more violent, shooting based, darker games as well.
