Man, that must have been pretty tough to write given your past and present as a big fan of the MS brand, really good read through as well, I think you touch on a lot of things that others are worried about regarding their jump back to PC gaming in the hopes people forget the disaster of a service which was Games for Windows Live, It is indeed the non commitment to one platform which means that the installed fanbases of those things (PC gamers happily on Steam/Origin and Console gamers on PS4/Wii-U) are looking on to see where MS is going to try to latch onto to generate $, if they dig their claws into the PC master race it's going to be just bad news for those who already game on the platform in my opinion, sure there will be a handful of MS first party games coming to the PC again, but at the cost of having to use a platform which does not aim to be a competition for Steam/Origin it aims to destroy them and plant the W10 store on their ashes (Dramatisation, may not happen).
What I'm trying to get at is the way I view MS coming towards a platform you like now... it isn't "Oh yay here they come with their games" it's "oh fuck... but... this is working fine now, what do they want from it?" Had the X1 launched the way it was revealed first at E3 it could have been an absolute deathblow to what console gaming is all about, coming complete with Don Matticks "if you don't like it, you can fuck off" attitude towards critics, thankfully the PS4 launched and forced MS's hand to alter the X1 to be a nice "console" and to be at least some bit of a reminder what people loved in the X360, I just hope now that their turn to milk the PC gamers and dictate how they are able to use their hardware and which platform they must use in order to have a MS game on their system... I hope that is met with the same reaction from the already in place stores on the PC, Just need Gaben (In Gabe we trust) to come on stage in a Jack Tretton rivaling mic drop moment to clarify that PC gamers and Developers have a place to game already in Steam.
Regarding yourself in gaming Super though, I've heard you mention you aren't a fan of Sony for a reason that you didn't go into at the time, but I was the same as you previous gen, Still have a wall with close to 200 X360 retail games on it, still though, when it comes to current gen my PS4 is sitting happily under my TV doing exactly what I'd want a console to do and not much else (in a good way, except for being a media player, the ps4 is dogshit at that) I just mean would you not take a step back and ignore the brand logo that is on the front of the console and just look at what is on offer in the PS4 and consider it, if it is the Controller you love there is even some great adapters out there to allow you use the X1 and X360 pads on the PS4 so if you kept your eyes on the screen you wouldn't even notice what was running your games heh, not trying to lecture you into changing your brand of choice though, if you have issues with a practice of Sony then I could understand wanting to stay away from them, but just if you can try not to let a global brand offend you in a way which will end up just costing you potentially enjoyable gaming on the system they produce. Keep in mind as well, if MS is doing so much that you don't agree with in terms of gaming, if you support them right now with your wallet, they'll continue to do it more and more, gotta use your wallet to vote or else you are causing more damage (if you look at the US hardware charts on the front page... which are a month out of date, the X1 being outsold 2:1 almost in the US, it's clear even the X360 loyal fans are making the change over, Don't go down with the ship for the sake of not liking the brand of liferaft! :D )
