Here is a look at Wii U sales when aligned with Gamecube sales. Wii U is at 12.6m atm, in the same time GCN was >18m

GameCube wasn't Nintendo's biggest success, but as you can see, it was doing quite a bit better than Wii U. Let's hope that in a few years, we see NX sales far above both of these numbers!

 

That flat line right after launch means that Wii U basically died in first year.
