That's THE point, isn't it? If Nintendo has to move away from the PowerPC architecture, doing it now makes the most sense because of Wii U's low install base. |
Very True!

Agree, WiiU games have a lot of value. The WiiU will become a very rare console, way rarer than the GCube. But it has a lot of interesting games, a lot of people might want to try them without needing to look after a WiiU. And if the NX changes the architecture of the NX, direct BC is going to be awfully difficult (in contrast to the easy Wii-GC compatibility). If they don't guarantee fully BC, they could do something similar to the XBone-360. |
The flip side of the coin is that... A large chunk of the decent Titles on Wii U are also first-party, which *could* be ported over to the successor. (Nintendo could also petition publishers to do the same.)
How likely is that to occur? Well. Who knows, it would probably help fill the void of absent games on the NX launch.

If its easy to port wiiu games, Nintendo will have a big line up, don't need make mario kart, SSB for NX and work on other games, in the same time, Nintendo could make NX and wiiu games, so continu to give games to WiiU buyers.. |
I think an Optical drive is a must, people still cling to CD, DVD and Bluray.
