This analysis actually makes the game look a bit more interesting. I actually like trading card games so if we have an option to customize our deck or hand based on the cards we get, this could be an interesting take on Paper Mario's battle system. Going to miss badges and flower powers a lot though.
However, I'm still worried about the writing for the games' characters and your partners. That is if you get any other than that magic paint bucket.
