...how exactly did we come to the conclusion that there isn't a Metroid game being worked on at the moment, exactly? Not that I'm betting there is one, but I fail to see how Retro working on a game in 2014, and then something said in 2015, suddenly rules out the current development of any Metroid title at all (ignoring FF, obviously).

Simple fact. Nintendo could of said something about said game. To minimize Fed Force hate.

Well, that's because the franchise just doesn't sell shit... So Nintendo is going to give up on it someday, like they did immediately after Super Metroid. The same thing almost happened with Fire Emblem until Awakening saved the series.

So that one game selling 2 million, saved the series. But all the Metroid games selling that or more. Even Other M. It's a failure.

Fire Emblem Awakening is the highest selling FE game ever selling almost 2 million copies with Fates tracking close in the same timeframe. Metroid Prime sold close to 3 million, while Metroid Prime and Other M sold under 1.5 million, Metroid Prime 3 sold close to 2 million, and Metroid Prime Trilogy just over 600,000. You need to take into account development costs between the franchises as Fire Emblem and Metroid with the latter having its most recent titles release on home consoles while the former released on handhelds.
