You don't need the wheels and is not necessary the classic controler on SSBB.
And most people who bought SSBB are Nintendo fans, so, great part of them own GC controllers. Those can use GC controllers or wiimote + nunchuck.
Not to mention that is becoming more likely to your friends own a Wii, so they could just bring their own controllers.
