I think it is a big game, and I don't think the sales of the last game will indicate the sales of this one. Plenty of franchises come into their own upon new iterations, and since they are likely to drop the "2" just for marketing purposes they can make this off to be a new game.
This game looks much different, much less Zelda-Clone, and much more gritty than the original, female representation is in right now, and nothing screams today's story driven market like a little 1984 and Big Brother.
There's no reason this won't be a big game. Especially not the sales of a game from 13 years ago. This may as well be a reboot.
