| RolStoppable said: Really? As in a 5% chance instead of a 1% chance? That would be far more likely, but it wouldn't change anything in the big picture. Look at it from another angle. BG&E is much closer to the style of the most popular Nintendo games than it is to the style of the most popular Ubisoft games. It isn't unlike adding Rayman as exclusive to a Nintendo system. I know that BG&E is a fan favorite on the internet, but that's not hard to accomplish when the vast majority of those people didn't pay more than $30 for the game. Nevermind that it's the popular thing to do to rally behind a commercial failure. Bayonetta 2 at least broadened the portfolio, so throwing money down the drain could be considered to be worth it. But BG&E2 would be adding another Nintendo-like game to a platform that will have a lot of Nintendo games anyway. Even if commercially successful, it's not going to entice third parties to make games like that on their own (i.e. without Nintendo's funding). |
Purely based on the aesthetics of the last BG2 teaser, it looks absolutely nothing like any of Nintendo's most popular games. I'm not actually talking about the original at all. I am speaking on the sequel in isolation, because it looks much more mature and gritty than the original, not unlike what Square did to Tomb Raider after the reboot.
So yeah, I do think that BG2 would change a lot in the big picture and yes, I do think that it will, if commercially successful, entice third parties to make games on their own. Not by itself, but along side other exclusive content of its ilk.
