Something tells me Ancel shared it off-the-record with Shafer that BG&E2 was going NXclusive. And Tim then tipped his hand to the rest of us.

This is really suspicious, I don't know the context, but naming Miyamoto out of nowhere... 

Especially when it's supposed to be Ubisoft pulling the strings.

Ubi may not have thought the project was going somewhere but let it go on in development hell, just so they wouldn't lose Ancel. So when Ninty walks in to green light it and gives Ancel total creative freedom for it - everyone walks away happy.
