It's not about them thinking it's worth it. It's about them cultivating the ecosystem in which these types of games are expected to appear. Right now, the expectation is that you buy Nintendo systems to buy Nintendo games and weird japanese titles. Doing what I suggest changes that expectation to Nintendo games and big, western AAA games, which is actually marketable here. Nintendo isn't at a point where they are at liberty to decide what's "worth the effort."
