I don't think Nintendo has ever supported a console after it's successor released, certainly not with the Gamecube or Wii, so if he did actually say that, he's definitely lying. They can't support two systems as it is, no way they want to try three at once.

They dont need to support it for years to come.Just giving it one more year with some titles, like Pikmin 4 that should have a Wii U version ready and a few others, will be enough to keep people happy, and good PR to show that Nintendo is not abandoning Wii U owners, even though thats not quite true.
