But if games designed for newer specs also work on older specs, then your argument doesen't hold water. That has to be a focus for atleast three or four years or there will be a lot of criticism.
Nintendo's New 3DS has games that work on old specs but better on new specs. However, some games are for New 3DS specs only. Funny you ignored that. :-p
