| Azuren said: I think many characters should be relegated to palette swaps. Bowser Jr and the Koopalings was a stroke of genius, and I believe we can completely do away with wasted clone slots by using it. Mario/Dr. Mario/Metal Mario/Fire Flower Mario Marth/Lucina Pit/Dark Pit Ryu/Ken(I-IV, not V) Cloud/AC Cloud Peach/Daisy Toon Link/Young Link Bowser Jr/Koopalings Olimar/Louie Pikachu/Pichu/Raichu Igglybuff/Jigglypuff/Wigglytuff Can some of these be their own characters? Yeah. But not if they play exactly the same. If they play exactly the same, then make them palettes. |
The last two are stretches because the size differences between the evolutions. You expect Raichu and Wigglytuff to fit and be the exact size of Pikachu and JIgglyypuff, respectively, and act like palatte swaps? Palatte swaps are those who are around the same size and don't have signitificant differences between them. If Pichu were to return, I think it would be smaller than Pikachu because its a Baby Pokemon and it would have a trait that made it tough to use because Pichu, based on its nature, can't control its electricity well compared to Pikachu and Raichu, as shown in Melee.
I think the Inklings are a shoe-in in the next game. It just wasn't their time in Smash 4 so we can at least expect them in 5.
I also expect a new Zelda character, whether it be Linkle, Impa, or whatever.
I would like Isaac to comeback, this time as a playable character similar to Little Mac.
King K. Rool is a possibility, but I agree with PushDustin from SourceGaming that K. Rool may NOT be as recognizable as a character as we may assume.
There is also a possibility of a new FE character since the series is on the rise, finally after 25 years and 14 games. Hopefully, they'll bring something new to the table like Robin and Corrin.
I expect a character that is pretty out there in terms of possible moveset like Wii Fit Trainer and Duck Hunt.
As for third-party, they have to be at least recognizable in the industry as a whole. A couple of the characters mentioned in the OP (especially the 10 and 9 characters) are not really that possible since they're Playstation basically (at least Final Fantasy has a history with Nintendo before, and even after, going to Sony) and, unlike Cloud, they aren't as historic or legendary. I think Chun-Li, the Queen of Street Fighter who can complete the crossover duo with Ryu (and be played by Laura Bailey, who voiced Lucina), a Dragon Quest character, another Final Fantasy character, and maybe one from Soul Calibur could be possible in the next Smash.
