I haven't made a thread about the NX yet and haven't done so in general for a while. The NX is coming we don't what it is, what it looks like, it specs or whatsoever. So I am not even going to speculate about that. I do have a simple question will the NX be able to be succesfull amongside the salesbeast called PS4. I can see two scenario's ahead of me when it comes to the NX, if it even is another home console. The first scenario is that Nintendo is going to attack the PS4 by making a superior device with better specs X86 architecture and no BS gimmicks and close some sweet deals with third party supporters in which a partnership with Rockstar takes the cake as best case scenario.

If NX wants to compete with PS4 in terms of spec, it needs to be significantly more powerful. Whicgh will raise the price tag of the console significantly. This is an important factor to your idea here.

NX has proved nothing at launch, and coming off of the WiiU's failure will make it all the more difficult for them to sell it at a high price point.
I really really don't think they can go this route.

What I see is that it will be of similar power to PS4, probably a bit more powerful, so that it can get proper third party support.

I think the NX home console can get a decent level of power, but does not need to surpass the PS4 by much (make it two WiiUs ducktaped together). Considering Sony is winning money hand over fist, they will want to keep the PS4 around as long as possible, and that means PS4-levels of power will be the standard for a long time. If the NX surpasses that power and it's easy to develop for, they won't need more power until the PS5, and I don't see that console coming to the market until 2020 (or if VR catches on and Sony needs more power inmediately).

You know it deserves the GOTY.
