As for those "Game X will turn things around" statements, I couldn't disagree more. One must not underestimate the power of public perception. When one console becomes the "chosen one" in the eyes of the general public, any competitors to that console stands a great risk of being seen as "uncool". The longer the time passes, the deeper this perception sinks in, brainwashing the masses.
The PS3 does have a number of excellent games out in 2009. But it's likely that the public will be too engrained into the Wii to care too much about them by then.
It was the same for the GC last gen. Forum users back then stated how "Resident Evil 4" is going to turn things around, blah blah. But obviously it didn't. It was too little too late.
