Is Red Dead Revolver the most forgotten major game ever?

If the second game wasn't numbered why would you number the third one then?  Shouldn't it be "the next Red Dead"?

My guess is it will be called Red Dead Re-something as numbers have not been in titles.

GTA had a GTA, GTA2, GTA: London, GTA3, so was an established numerical order as well as sub titled entries between numerical ones.

Has there ever been a game series that had two entries with subtutles and then the third entry was "the second subtitled entry 2"?

Don't know if this counts but

Metal Gear -> Metal Gear 2 -> Metal Gear Solid -> Metal Gear Solid 2

Super Mario 64 -> Super Mario Sunshine -> Super Mario Galaxy -> Super Mario Galaxy 2
