I didn't say you did say.

I can tell you that if I would turn my PC into a gaming machine, I would need a new PSU and new cooling which would increase the noise in my PC which is currently whisper quiet. If I want it to stay that way, I would have to spend even more money.

Yes, on PC I am mostly a retro gamer, therefore I love gaming on consoles which is also way more compatible with my wife to play together.

PSU I got was a gold certified model from EVGA for around £90 at the time of purchase with slight prices changes: https://pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-power-supply-220g20750xr

As for new cooling I got a Corsair Vengeance C70 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case which came with 3 fans for a price of £99 which isn't all that bad in terms of case pricing.

My heatsink which cools my CPU for £26 which is silly cheap: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/cooler-master-cpu-cooler-rr212e20pkr2

My GTX 980 as with most GPU's you know, come with their own fans as well as the PSU itself. Basically my build has a total of 7 fans (including PSU, GPU and CPU with the case 3 fans) and that is just the basic level of cooling, I have no need for more fans or water cooling as of yet and no desire to either. My build as of now is also whisper quiet compared to my last build. YOu don't have to spend more money to keep it quiet, thatr sounds like bullhockey to me.

I imagined as such, but the way you look at PC gaming is scewered somewhat.

It is not. I would have to have a *new* PSU, meaning I would have one lying around. Same goes for a new case, add to that I would have to buy new cooling. And I would have to buy a new GPU which also adds a lot of cost and I would need to do more gaming in my bureau room as I don't have my PC in my living room.

So no, no matter how smart choices you made for *you*, this doesn't convince me to re-invest in my beefy work PC to do my gaming there, ever again.

I know where you are coming from, I also was a PC gamer 15 years ago but time has changed and so my preferences and the way I want to spend my free-time.
