| AEGRO said: My take on the NX situation - Worst Case Scenario: It will have the same 3rd Party Support (aka non existant) than the Wii U, nothing will change. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Even if Nintendo manages to convince certain 3rd Parties, it will NEVER have the same support than the competition. My opinion? The NX wont do anything in regards of this situation. The problem right here, right now is Nintendo. The blame is not on the console, the dev kit, this, that or the other, it is Nintendo and their way of doing business, which is archaic at best. |
Nintendo doesn't need the 3rd party support that its competition has for it to be successful. In fact, nintendo has rarely found success by depending on 3rd parties. The concept behind the NX needs to be appealing to people the same way that the Game Boy and the DS was appealing and then Nintendo needs one or two killer apps that really sell the console at launch (ie. like Mario 64 and Tetris did for the N64 and Game Boy, respectively). This strategy has always been Nintendo's basic formula for success. In fact, the biggest problem that the Wii U had was that Super Mario Maker wasn't its launch title. If it had been, Nintendo would have had the killer app to fully justify the gamepad's existence and it would have simultanneously dispelled the confusion and explained to people exactly what the gamepad was meant to do.
3rd Parties can help fill in the software droughts on Nintendo's console but they will never create success for Nintendo. As a result, Nintendo doesn't need the same 3rd party support that the PS4/XOne do. The key for Nintendo is that they introduce a useful piece of hardware and quickly follow it up with a killer App that completely justifies its existence. Just like how the Wii had Wii Sports and the DS had Nintendogs and Brain Age. For the NX to be successful, this is much more important then 3rd Party support... 3rd Parties will only return if the NX can prove itself as a success first.
