Bah....Wii Fit sales are meaningless. The game is just another Pack in like Wii Play or Wii Sports. People are only buying it for the Balance Board.

I'm not sure if you're being serious or not, but some people have made this statement in total seriousness.

I find it hilarious. Prior to this gen, having an expensive peripheral included with a game was considered a major disadvantage. Of course Guitar Hero broke that trend. But now people are claiming that Wii Fit has an advantage because it includes a limited use peripheral which knocks the price up $40.

Just another example how the old industry is being turned upside down.

And btw... Just because Wii Fit launches huge doesn't mean it won't have legs. It will still have long tail sales just like the Brain Training or Nintendogs games, but at a much higher volume. I believe that Nintendo is actively planning to sell 30-40 million Wii Fits, just like they fully intended to sell 10M copies of each Brain Training game. They are going to have a high volume launch, and unprecedented high volume long tail sales.

They could, for example, sell 1M units in America this December.

"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.
