My point is people asked for it sooner rather than later, and the game suffered for it. Capcom should have held it back for a full release. Hopefully those lesser known, less important reviewers will update their scores when the rest of the game releases.

Maybe Sony wanted it sooner than later. Maybe Capcom needed the money sooner than later. I dont think Capcom just did it for fan service.

It happens, games often launch buggy or incomplete to meet a release window and start collecting money.

If anything, I bet Capcom will release an updated retail release to get a better meta score. Maybe it will just have a bunch of content unlocked that we have to unlock with points.

I get the impression its gonna take a few hours of play to unlock a single character. Unlocking colors appears to be a real grind as well. Frankly, I dont think critics are gonna be happy about that either. Capcom wants people to buy currency. For $60 I should have the characters unlocked when they launch. I've been somewhat of a Capcom defender but this feels gross.

In SFIV I could unlock a character in like 10 minutes. That was acceptable and encouraged me to play Arcade mode.

As has been pointed out to me, this was so that some form of the game would be out in time to allow some to practice for the pro tour. That said, I wish they would have released this at $30 and include a $30 download later for the rest of the game. At that time, they can just bundle the game with the download for $60 and call it a day.
