Microsoft is happy, whatever happens...... why don't they give up, and focus on pc?

Hi Leni...

What console do you think 90% of Xbox 360 users would of purchased if the 360 didn't exist?? It wouldn't of been the Wii!

PS3 would have double the sales, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Halo, Dead Rising.. and so many other great games... so go ahead wish the 360 out of the market, but then you would basically get no 3rd party support on the Wii just like previous generations.

If anything you should be thanking the 360 for giving developers a great reason to ignore the PS3 and develop on the Wii

That's not (necessarily) true ...

Without the XBox 360 on the market, a large portion of the multiplatform and exclusive XBox 360 games would not have been released in 2006, 2007 and 2008 (and may not have been made at all); if the PS3 and XBox 360 didn't have Call of Duty 4, Devil May Cry 4, Grand Theft Auto 4, Assassin's Creed, Oblivion, Bioshock, Dead Rising, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas, Rockband and several other major third party games how well would have they been able to keep pace with the Wii?

The XBox 360 having never existed would be far more negative towards the "HD Console" market than it would be for the Wii.

I don't understand your logic of the developers not working on the PS3 because the 360 hadn't exist. If anything it would of lowered cost for them since they're just working on one platform. I get why the early games would of been launched a year later since the PS3 was a year late, but Call of Duty 4, Rock Band, Devil May Cry 4 would of been released around the same time.

"The XBox 360 having never existed would be far more negative towards the "HD Console" market than it would be for the Wii."

Its basic Sun Tzu/Art of War theories. Ask Nintendo if they would want to compete against one unified competitor or two opposing competitor beating each other up...

I think you missed the point entirely ...

Or that your point is flawed :)

The PS3's first year software library was heavily padded with multiplatform games that were representitive of second year software from the XBox 360 and ports of the XBox 360's first year software. Without the XBox 360 this software would not have existed at this point in the PS3's life, and the entire library would have been dramatically weaker.

If the XBOX 360 wasn't arround then all development would have been geared towards the PS3 , The PS2 has a great track record and against 1 competitor ( the Wii) the developers would have been queing up for a guaranteed profit and a reliable platform. Without the 360 the PS3 would most definetley have had MORE sofware.

On top of this, the lack of a reason to divert resources towards the XBox 360 would have resulted in a greater quantity and quality of PS2 software leading up to (and following) the PS3's launch, which (potentially) would make the Wii's software library stronger (due to second rate PS2 ports).

Your making the assumption that devleopers would see the PS3 in the same light they do now , Most development resources would have been allocated to the development of PS3 games (you keep on forgetting about the PS2's dominance .in a market with only one competitor even the least talented of Analysts would have predicted the demise of the Wii, they would have made round about the same number of PS2 games however.)

You're thinking that the loss of the XBox 360 would have had no impact on the library of the PS3; this is (obviously) false being that few third party publishers are going to begin games 24 months in advance for the hope of releasing them soon after a system launches.
