On Metal Gear's defense, Metal Gear Solid 2 was also an incomplete game (had lot of cut content, some of it that was actually important). But on MGSV's case, there's whole chapters missing, plus some other controversial stuff.

Whole chapters? Sheesh...

I read many Steam user reviews and they never even mentioned that. Then again, I've bought some games on there that were supposedly good, only to find that I would end up hating them!

MGSV is like the Naruto or the Bleach of the MGS series. A crap ton of filler. The game itself is quite good, and the gameplay/mechanics/graphics are the best that the franchise has seen (not to mention the addition of online play); but the real problem is the story. Much like Naruto would place meanless filler in between the true story episodes, MGSV has lots of filler missions in between the story missions to make the game appear longer (and you have to play through the vast majority of them to progress to the next story mission). Finally, like Wright said, there was story content cut from the game which is probably why they added the filler.

Other than that, it is a good game - which accounts for the glowing reviews. As a Metal Gear game however, from the context of the other games in the series, some aspects are severely lacking.
