Titanic when released was the most expensive movie ever made( TFA had the same budget 18 years later)
Titanic had an estimated 128million tickets sold in its very long run. (Domestic only) TFA is the fist to top 100 million since then and in 37 days vs 87.
Titanic even without the release was #6 on the all time adjuster domestic list. TFA is currently 11th and might get as high as 9th.
Star wars is one of the few franchises with very strong staying power at the domestic box office. There are 5 movies in the top 18 all time adjusted. While most movies high up the list are stand alone movies or the first. Star wars has 4 of its later movies way up there. The next highest noon original movies are Jurassic world in the 24th spot and Shrek 2 at 35 that's also a rarity where the sequel performed better than the original (still talking adjusted domestic )
