Here is what Im trying to explain to you. MS the company spent billions of dollars getting into the console because they knew something big was happening there that wasnt just gaming. However, gaming is a crucial part of penetrating that market. So they sought for people and studios to bring them content. This is exactly the same thing Sony did when entering the console market.

Playstation and Xbox have frankly become what MS envisioned when entering the market, multimedia boxes. That happened because thats what the market wanted.

People are critical of MS for supporting Windows. But I feel Nintendo and Sony would do the same if they owned Windows. Millions of people play Nintendo and Playstation games on Windows. Maybe those companies should try to make money from Windows.

Did you know what Sony, did when first got to the Market ?, the CD Player, they had a lot of Developers working for PS1, because was easier to Program too, the CD, had 11 Times more storage than Nintendo 64's Midia had, Saturn, was hard to program for.

The consoles are Not Multi-Midia Box, they are just Gaming consoles, and only used for Games, Multimidia, is not even 0,00000000000000000001% for the Reason that people purchase console, if someone release a Console, without Multimidia, with Online Gaming, and with Good exclusives, the console would still sell, Consoles only have Skype, because of Online gaming (for game), Only have Share Play, and Streaming to Twich, because Youtube, And Twich Gaming, is becoming a Thing, but this is just Gaming feature, not Muldi-midia Feature.

People only purchase console for Gaming, your statement that they purchase for Multimidia, is wrong, the Only reason that Microsoft, is making Exclusives going for PC, and the reason that i Belive that there will not be another Xbox, is because they want DRM, they want 100% Online, all of this is commum on the PC Market, Microsoft, is trying to make the Console market, like the PC Market, because the only think that Microsoft, was sucessful in, was on the PC Market.

They only wanted to make their PC, the king of the Living room, because of that "TV TV TV TV TV" on E3, they did not was able to do that, now they will give up, and only sell their games on PC, after Xbox One, stop of selling, they will not make another console, because there is no way that they can compete agaist Sony, even now that they have the Image of "Liars", and the Gaming Community, know that they will  not support Xbox One, with True Exclusives.

There were numerous consoles that used CDs before PS1. They just weren't very good machines. Sega CD had a few good games though.

Millions of people use their consoles as multi media boxes and gaming machines. If a game console didn't offer the multi media features, they would lose sales. Hey, PS4 is a popular machine for looking at porn as well. Like I said, game consoles became media boxes because that's what the market wants and MS knew that when entering the console market arena.

People forget Sony pushed TV features a lot of as well early on. They are even pushing Playstation Vue.
