I have the same exact feelings, both on the comfortablity of handheld consoles and of the willingness to play handheld games on the TV.
In my region two games on the top twenty VC games list are from handhelds:M&L: Superstar Saga and LoZ: The Minish Cap. This indicates that a lot of people are willing to play games with "inferior" graphics on HD TV.
