Well I compare the big 3 to game of thrones these days, SPOILERS until season 4

Nintendo is like the House of Baratheon and Stark, it's a well respected company which does it's own thing and in general doesn't want to care about the rest unless they are forced to. They once conquered the iron throne (console market), but also lost it. Kudos for the company which survives litteraly anything and does it with some flair.

Microsoft
Microsoft is like house Tyrell it is force to be reckoned with. But it just isn't the biggest force yet while being ambitious enough to be that. Microsoft has been a more recent entry (gen 6), but defenitly made is mark in the industry and has launched one of the most successful systems ever.

Sony
Well Sony are like the Lannisters it's a superpower and those who opposed Playstation sing a few pitches lower (Nintendo/Stark). But as The Lannisters Sony also have grown a bit arrogance and they payed a pretty penny for that. But they seemingly have all matters under control now and they don't seem to give that position up quickly. They are respected by most houses and have great connections for as long as everything goes well.

As for this gen Nintendo does it's own thing and is in generally liked for that by it's fans. Even though the fans of other houses see critical faults in their management, especially the cold relationship with EA, Ubisoft etc. seemingly needs to change for many to buy the NX.

Microsoft is doing fine really, even though all the doom theories they make profit and their roots in the gaming market are widening with W10 as we speak. This has been more appearant by releasing exclusives for PC and Xone, most of their games have good ratings and are liked by it's fanbase a solid good console with a good line-up even if it is a bit safe.

Sony is doing well as usual paying it's debts and finally bringing there promise to the gamers. Every fan of gaming can't denie the greatness of the 2016 line up (if most of the releases make the deadline). The domination of the PS4 luckily doesn't mean Sony is getting lazy as succes is necesary for investment, otherwise the system will be killed. Which is why we ought to be careful with VR.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar
