If the handheld and home console both utilize the same game format which saves internally on the rumored cartridge, it would simply be up to your own personal needs. If you are playing Super Mario Galaxy 3 at home and you leave for a family dinner or something at a restaurant, you can save and take it on the handheld unit and go right back from where you left off. I would definitely get both and use them according to my situation.
