Most people are superficial. We judge people on their looks all the time, and sure racial identity plays into that big time.

We haven't evolved yet to the point where it's a non-issue, it will probably still require a few hundred years. That said I think we are improving, each generation tends to be less racist than their parents (this isn't always true, but generally speaking I think it is). 

When you meet a racist piece of crap, usually their parents are more racist than they are, so at least I think we headed in the right direction.
