Don't forget, this is HD we're talking about. Nintendo admitted they struggled during the first year of the Wii U's life to develop HD games due to significant differences between developing SD and HD games. HD cost more and takes more time, especially if you haven't develop within that particular setup before. Plus, they had to develop 3DS games, which is a leap over DS games despite being 240p. I've said this before, developing for both consoles might've caught up to Nintendo as they've developed more smaller projects than usual, like Rainbow Curse, Treasure Tracker, Splatoon, and Ultra Smash. At this point, with technology being more advanced, but more expensive, it won't be easy to support two consoles.

I do wonder how much Zelda U will eventually cost as this is probably their most expensive and biggest project yet. This is Nintendo's first open world...in HD, with a franchise that carries enormous expectations within the gaming community along the likes of Final Fantasy, Fallout, Grand Theft Auto, 3D Mario, etc.

Yeah, I did list before those 2 things as the potential reasons why this Zelda is taking so long. Though if true, that does seem a bit of a downer. Usually Ninten is the one leading by example, and now they are kinda falling behind...

I wonder myself how big Zelda is going to be... I can't imagine it being huge like GTA or FFXV...

Oh ok. I missed what you said about that. Well HD is not considerably easy in the first place. I mean, didn't Sony and Microsoft have their own intial struggles when the PS3 and 360 initially released? Nintendo was obviously going to have growing pains with HD. Hopefully, with NX or whatever it'll eventually be, they'll be more prepared.
