Yep! Playstaion does really well in the beginning of the year, and I think even the first half of the year (Because Nintendo usually releases the big games at the second half). According to farsala this is a rare January Victory.  The tides are indeed turning! 

 

Now obviously Sony have a greater chance of winning a month Nintendo don't release much in but that's not the reason Playstation sells well.  It sells well because they have good games releasing. Nintendo releasing big titles wouldn't change that.
