And if Splatoon was succesful, I'm pretty sure Retro could have been succesful with a similar IP. They know how to do shooters, or multiplayer and can look for someone to help them build a busy online community. Hopefully this is a good lesson and they try to do something new and fresh, doesn't matter if it is not Metroid, but they can still achieve great success with a new IP.

I think though that Nintendo shouldn't give DK to a team that doesn't understand the essence of DK. Retro did a great job capturing the spirit, especially with the second one (They got right the enemies and the music, which were my 2 biggest complains about Returns). It may have hold them back from creating a new tentalizing IP, but they made sure DK wouldn't fall into oblivion like it did back in the Gamecube days (even though EAD Tokyo was in charge of Jungle Beat, they didn't quite catch the essence like Retro did) and for that I'm eternally grateful. But I'm biased since it is my favorite franchise.

I didn't like Jungle Beat.
