The downfall of PSVR will be it's inability to be plugged into a Pc to use with Facebook etc. That's where the money will be made as people start using VR for socialising and hook ups.

By the time others become more affordable the PSVR may have achieved a level of market dominance and third part support that it becomes the default VR for most people.

 

A huge price drop for Oculus Rift can come sooner than you think, after they have milked the early adopters.

If Facebook decides, that having more VR users than their competitors is more important than selling profitable hardware, they can afford it.
