Nintendo is essentially making Day One, On Disc DLC now. Yeah, the key is a plastic toy but the mechanics of it are the same. The DLC is being planned and programmed before the games are being released. The intention is to make people spend more money on a game than they normally would. Yes, this is the same philosophy EA recently talked about and that many people criticized.
If you're bashing all other instances of Day One/On Disc DLC while defending the Amiibo strategy then, as far as I can see, that's straight-up hypocrisy.
