The problem with amiibo is that people does not seem to be smart enough to realize that the extremely lame content they unlock would have never existed on the first place if wasnt for amiibo. But it sounds so good to say "Nintendo is locking content behind a 10000$ paywall", even if that content is a Kirby skin, 1 extra life once a day or an empty room full of enemies, and they would never have existed without amiibo, but is a trend to hate in absolutely everything they do without thinking first and also the perfect food for haters. Some people dont want amiibo, but they dont realize that without amiibo you will have actually less stuff in your games. Not that it matters since that stuff is lame, thats why I dont buy them.
