For the hyrule warriors argument, 2 things.

1. The game was over 1mil by years end (2014). Game is probably a little higher now than before. So it could be anywhere between 1.2mil to 1.8mil. We won't know Intill tecmo gives us figures.

2. Importantly your using 1mil, but you have to look at it differently.  Let's go with 1.2mil. That 1.2mil isn't for the fighting genre but a much more niche one. It's a DW game. Most of the games sell 300k-600k WW Lifetime. I think only 5 games sold over 1mil. DQ warriors and hyrule warriors being 2 of them (both spin offs to popular franchises).  Highest selling DW game is around 2.3mil lifetime. So 1.2mil is really good.

Fighting genre is down  overall significant ly compared to its prime (though it's recovering from last gen Imo) I think pokken will do well, but it all depends on a number of factors. SF5 has all the advantages, but it's not 100% guaranteed yet!

1.2 M is fine for Hyrule Warriors. Their development is considered lower budget compared to other games. Thats what makes Nintendo and Tecmos venture profitable. They stick to the classic method of making games which is finding ways to create fun and a challenge out of simplicty. Where I worry about people applauding those types of sales is because of a future which is beginning to dictate that as technology increases so too will development costs. When someone says 1.2 for a Sony or Microsoft exclusive everyone cringes because those games generally have larger budgets. Nintendo has been smart with pacing how they use their power and resources to maximize profit, but I think some changes are due.

The fighting genre has been down but we dont know where the new generation stands with fighting games just yet. The last Street Fighter game sold very well (but not well enough to save Capcom from their other investments). Pokken is traditional fighter with a Pokemon name, so that might hurt it a little. Thats all I am saying. having a traditional fighter on the Wii did zero favors for Tastunoko vs Capcom (which I thought was one of the best fighters of last gen).

Lets hope for the best.
