Those people should go work out for real then or go bowling in a real bowling alley or maybe start lering to play a real instument...

That is truly the most bizarre comment I have ever seen. If you’re making fun of people because they bowl by actually swinging their arm what does that say about someone that would do it by wiggling their thumbs. Maybe you should grab a gun, get drunk and drive a car around at high speed instead of playing GTA IV.

And reasons I would get Wii Fit rather than just going to a gym:

1.  Convenience, I can exercise whenever I want without leaving my house. The nearest gym is far enough away to waste considerable time just in travel.

2.Cost. Wii Fit = $89.00 one time. Gym equals membership fee that keeps mounting up

3. Privacy. I don’t particularly like working out just to amuse the jocks and gym rats that are in much better shape and love to sneer and laugh when you bobble an exercise

4.Balance Training. I’m older and I need to improve my balance in order to avoid injuries from a fall. According to the head of physical therapy at the major teaching hospital where I work, the Wii Fit board is an extraordinary sensitive device for real time balance feedback that ISN’T even available at a gym

5. Fun. The exercise mini games won’t win game of the year but they’re a heck of a lot more fun than the torture machines at the gym

6. Motivation. Every reviewer I’ve read who actually used Wii Fit over a realistically long term trial have found it an extraordinarily good motivation tool. Something that the idea of going to the gym sadly lacks.

7. Environment. My living room is a heck of a lot nicer than a gym and smells a hell of a lot better.

I probably would if it was legal. (j/k)

Seriously, I think me and this topic got off on the wrong foot. I have nothing against wii sports, Rock band or these games...I own guitar hero and rock and for the 360. Its great fun however I do state that when Half life 2 came out...I was thinking about that game for a week while I was at work. It engaged me in ways that these rock band type games can't...

As far as my other comment...if those people are engaged with Wii fit or guitar hero so much that it causes them to think about it when they stop playing...they should go to the gym or play a real insturment. I don't see anything strange about that train of thought like you say... They would put their interests to good use.
