Going by current VG numbers there are WW 31 HD consoles Assuming that 5% of owners have both consoles (plucked number out the air by my own admission) then the number of prospective purchasers was approx 28M HD gamers. To date (2 weeks) GTA IV has sold around 7.5 Million units on that base - i.e. approx 26 to 27% of HD gamers have bought this game already and assuming that attach rate holds roughly steady the long term sales of the game are going to be very good Pretty good really... its not like it was really going to sell 17M in 2 or 3 weeks with only around 28M potential purchasers already in possession of a console. |
Attach rates aren't going to hold up through the long term. I don't see how that's possible as I can't think of a single game that's done that. Even bundled games because the bundles eventually get replaced.
