It makes sense since they're running away from a whole empire. They most likely don't wear  armor in a normal casual day since they are royalty(not to mention the setting is based on modern times not medieval). So far the story suggests the army just attacked their city and they are forced to flee from them, not really much time to wear armor if that was the case.

Yes true, I meant it more in the way that they could either charge into the base in their current condition or choose stealth instead, which realistically would give them a better chance.

A mix of fantasy and reality with a bit more reality this time around
