It currently heavily depends on each amiibo. Toad was until November used for a couple games and the usage was a waste of time. But Shovel Knight unlocks goddamned Co-op and a bunch of new abilities for that file that legitimately change the way you can play the game. For me it's quality over quantity there. Not that I really care, the gameplay features on these things are pretty much a bonus; they're designed as NFC chips solely because they knew it'd attract a slightly larger audience versus making them collector's items, and until the functionality is the primary reason for their design I'm not gonna be a child and moan about a bonus feature.
You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt! I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading. After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!
