| RolStoppable said: Since there has been confusion about my stance on this topic, I'll explain it in more detail. I am not sticking up for pirates, not at all. Here's what Blow tweeted recently: It seems The Witness is the #1 game on a certain popular torrent site. I'm glad that a lot more people will be experiencing the game! But I also want to be able to make another comparable game next! Just sayin'. That's portraying the situation as if there was a serious risk at that point in time. But now we get that tweet about The Witness selling more copies in a week than Braid did in a year, and The Witness's price tag is four times as high as Braid's (correct me if I am wrong, but I think Braid was $10). Portraying the situation in such a way is an attempt (intentional or not) to take advantage of the goodwill of gamers. There are many people who weren't going to pay $40 for The Witness because it's just too expensive for their tastes; they were waiting for a significant price drop. But because of the above tweets, they might decide to "take one for the team" and spend $40 on The Witness. |
Yep, Blow decided to deceive people by making out it was getting pirated so they will go and buy it to only scupper his own plans by telling everybody it's selling well /s
When he made that tweet he more than likely didn't know how well it was selling so what's your point. Either way nothing should justify pirating.
