Not sure what was wrong with my question? My Point tho is Nintendo should be giving more freedom to their younger developers and I have the feeling that Splatoon only came about because of poor sales of the Wii U.

I'm just saying there are plenty of Nintendo IPs that didn't come from Miyamoto, such as Super Smash Bros, Metroid, Animal Crossing, Pokémon (not sure if it counts as a Nintendo IP though) and F-Zero if I'm not mistaken, just to name a few off the top of my head.

Oh sorry I was talking about recently as in the last 5-6 years. Also Nintendo has a habit of reusing their characters for all their games, they were going to use Mario for splatoon.
