Same here. Yakuza was what got me through waiting for a Shenmue sequel. I prefer it to most sandbox games out there and the gameplay is perfect.

Big time. Probably one of the reasons why Sega stopped localising this series. It feels like unless the game is GTA or assassins creed, it will struggle in the western world.

I think that people were expecting an open world game like GTA then the first game came out. Also i thing the name isn't helping at. When they see ''Yakuza'' strange things are jumping into their heads. I don't know why Sega didn't choose to leave title as it is for the west.

I think it's a combination of marketing and what you said. They probably think it will play like Mafia and GTA, and you will be able to drive around and kill people and have police chase after you etc.
As for the name, I don't think Like a Dragon would work in the west. however, on that note, did you watch the film?
