Yeah it's ugly out there.

Even in Japan, and I travelled pretty much exclusively on the subway for 1-2 hours every day for a good 10 days in Tokyo ... it's actually kinda eerie, what you'll see if the subway is very quiet, but you look to your left and it's like a row of 50 people just staring down at their phone. Look to your right and it's the same thing, lol.

Bit off topic, but interesting you say this, because the ugly side of the impact of smartphones (along with social media) goes far beyond just dedicated gaming devices.I swear it´s like so many people, especially the new generation, are slowly forgetting how to even have a decent, face to face interaction with another human being, with a good part of the communication being through Facebook, etc..and so many people spend so much time just staring down at their phones.

I see it all the time, every day...in restaurants, tables with 10 people and half of them are just hypnotized by their phones, at family/friends gatherings, same thing, and so on.

Once my current phone is paid off, I'm downgrading to a basic talk/text phone for this exact reason. Smartphones are super convenient but it's gotten to the point where they are TOO convenient, I find myself on my phone way more than I should doing pointless things when there are better and more important things I could be doing.
