Nintendo + Sony all the way for me. Never really sided with anyone... ok I liked SNES vs Genesis, that was almost the same thing with all the too cool for school kids and their Madden while I was happy with my JRPG heaven known as SNES. I usually just followed the games. But Microsoft burned me hard 7th gen catering to the broheim military shooter and sports audience and in turn prompting publishers to only make those kinds of games, in a vicious spiral. I had gone 360 at the start because the PS3 launch was a complete loss and they showed promise with stuff like Dead Rising, Blue Dragon, Tales of Vesperia, etc. on the way. Then it all went away for Gears of War 9, Halo 258, Call of Duty 304834583, and I was just done.
Then they pulled the same thing with XBO on TOP of the anti consumer moves and had a unanimously inferior box this time around, which made it too easy to stay away.
I've aligned myself 100% with Sony+Nintendo for 8th gen. Microsoft has shown that they STILL want an all digital anti ownership agenda (Halo 5 LCE with no physical game, but hey at least you get a steel book to put your used voucher in!!!). Best $250 I ever didn't have to spend. And they have shown that all they care about STILL is the biggest target market of bro shooters and sports games (remember how much they hyped integrated NFL features and CATV passthrough?)
I have all 23 physical retail games on XBO that I can't get anywhere else. That is ALL since launch, a whopping 23 games. It would be 24 but Rise of the Tomb Raider is getting a PS4 release. Of those 23, 4 are Forza (5, 5 GOTY, Horizon 2, and 6) and 2 are Halo (MCC and 5) then you have Titanfall and a Gears remaster... 6 are GOTY versions of each other (Ryse, Forza 5, Dead Rising 3), Scream Ride and Zoo Tycoon and Disney Fantasia were 360 games ported over to pad the launch titles... see where I'm going with this?
Microsoft is a 3 trick pony: Halo, Gears, Forza is all they can do. Even their precious Call of Duty base they relied on that carried the 360 all 7th gen jumped ship because of their Nazi DRM attempt. They have Rare and now that all the original staff are gone they can't even make a good game that isn't oozing in testosterone and uses more than the colors olive green and brown. They are forced to make Kinect Sports. So instead they release remakes; Rare Replay and Killer Instinct which was nothing more than an attempt to attract a couple Sony + Nintendo players and cash in on the rising nostalgia and retro craze and to brag that they have Rare and nobody else can have them.
There are 9 more physical release games coming out over the horizon, most don't even have release dates.
