Probably also the reason why they decided to re-release the original Yellow/Red/Blue on 3DS and not a update similar to Fire Red/Leaf Green. They can still do that while still including newer Pokemon, which could potentially further interest with people being like "oh I've never seen that Pokemon before," but as it is it only furthers the theory that Pokemon Go will be gen 1 only, which would suck.
