There are satellites circling around the boss later on, but I just ignored them after taking down the shield.

I tried to kill the satellites in the center of the room as soon as they appeared, but none of them took serious damage before the shield went up. Maybe I missed the correct one, but I think you first must allow the shield to be activated before you have a realistic chance to destroy one of the little things.

I waited for the shield to go up, then concentrated on the "shield" satellite in the centre of the room, it still took like 3 minutes to kill it, (On foot) by which time Vita had gone from about 20% health to around 75%, and killed me shortly after the shield dropped.
