Why doesn't Nintendo just make a $100 casual platform then?

If casual gamers are so "good" and hardcore gamers are "bad", then just make a damn system for them and see if they show up.

I can tell you something though ... if you're going to ask for even $10+ games, you're going to be in for a rude awakening.

Even that new AppleTV which has casual games and a Wiimote like remote is not doing that great and that's with Apple's backing. Playing casual games on your TV is passe .... smart devices can go anywhere, they're just far more convienant to the life style of someone who's life isn't that centralized around playing some video games.

Read up on some of Nintendo's comments regarding the Wii U, it was well above what they actually wanted to charge for it even the current President said he disagreed with the execution of how the platform was handled before launch. Believe me a cheaper platform is no doubt something they're aiming for with a more focused approach that actually accounts for all groups this time and last I check Tomodachi life cost more then $10. Casual gamers and non-gamers aren't the same group either.

Apple TV is not really a dedicated console even the remote is just that a remote and nothing close to a Wiimote, that's a terrible comparison to even bring up as it's primarily a device for services like Hulu, Netflix etc... It's a microconsole at best.
