That isn't really what people are worried about. It's more of the: "Well, if Nintendo just gives up on failed consoles. I'm not gonna trust the next console. I'll wait till it actually is a success. "If" the NX is a combined platform your also bringing in a big fan base from the handheld side that would probably add a few million sales to it just there along with console gamers potentially picking up a Nintendo console since there last N64 or Gamecube purchase and even people picking up a Nintendo console for the first time.

I don't actually think it will be a NX launch title but a first year release which would still give Wii U owners like 6 months earlier to play it and hey even double dip a year after when they get a NX and fancy another Zelda fix.

 

 

The GC version would look better. If the game was still produced as long as the Wii one was.
